Whenever I hibernate my Windows Vista laptop and switch it on and log in again, for some reason it disconnects me from my wireless network. It started doing this when I installed o2 connection manager. Could this be what's causing it or is it something else? Your help and advice please!

When you put your computer iinto hybernate, it's shutting down all the hardware, including your wireless card. Generally it should reconnect once you've logged back in and let it sit for a minute or less. Are you saying it doesn't do this?

Maybe you haven't checked all the boxes in the network and sharing centre. That could be why the laptop isn't picking up the wireless network. There should be a checkbox in network and sharing centre when you manually connect to the network for the first time, works the same way as the log on checkboxes on a lot of websites these days and it gives you the option to connect automatically every time you switch the laptop on once you've checked it and applied the settings. That's about the only reason I think the laptop isn't connecting when you wake it up.

I've never used the hybernate feature on my laptop before. Maybe i should start doing that rather tahn shutting it down and restarting it.

No because Hibernate keeps all data in memory from resetting. Hibernate is more like a standby on steroids, even though the laptop is off at the time, or close to it. I'd use hibernate if you did something at work, saved it, but would like to keep all your windows open for ease of use / remembering where you are. Then do Hibernate, close your laptop and take it on the road or home to finish.
All the shutdown options have different uses ...

It only started this when I installed o2 connection manager.
